There are no words to say how much I loved the book. I thought the numerous voices added so much.

The telling of the story through letters did not feel like a gimmick. In fact, it was absolutely perfect for this book. The characters are fully drawn and beautifully narrated. I laughed and wept multiple times. I am a middle aged woman, but felt I could relate to the 70-something Sibyl. She also infuriated me..

This may be the best book I’ve ever read. I can’t find words to express how meaningful it is except to say that my husband, who listened with me, cried at the end.
Have enjoyed all of Spencer Quinn’s books, including the Chet and Bernie series, his Echo Falls series, and his darker (?) books under the Peter Abrahams name. Loretta Plansky in this read is one of his most relatable characters, and it’s so easy to root for her. Great narration to boot.
I loved the honesty and compassion the author shows for all her characters, especially Sybil. As a woman of a certain age, and mother of two grown adopted children, I connected to the overall themes of love and loss, forgiveness of oneself and others—as paths to living again.
The author, through an exchange of beautifully revealing letters, exposes the layers of complexity across the events and relationships of the protagonist’s life. Each letter, clearly delineated by voice and purpose, uncovers the trajectory of a life. So beautifully done!
This audiobook is one of the best. Beautiful narration of a wonderful book. I hesitated before purchasing imagining a story told through correspondence might be boring. Don’t hesitate, it’s a new favorite. I loved the story so much.
The story kept me on the edge of my seat. Even at points where I thought the author might be heading for a cliche, she skirted the edge without leaning in. If you get frustrated with main characters who make the dumbest damsel in distress choices and are looking for something more, then this book..
I enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one.Makes me look forward to the next one. the writer who is very funny when he wants to be, found his funny feet in this story. That was pretty much absent in the first Plansky mystery. i do that or I just missed it. anyway, terrific…
