Any additional comments?
I received a copy of this audio title for free in exchange for an unbiased review.

As the title of my review indicates, the book is kind of a mess. There is so much going on in this book, so many different stories being told, and while they are connected there seems to be bits and pieces of each story missing. I understand leaving some questions for future volumes, but no single story line is actually told. The author jumps back and forth in time, telling bits and pieces of different people’s story. The epilogue really should have been a prologue. The book just left you with so many loose threads. That being said I enjoyed the bits and pieces of the story that I was given. If audible allowed for half stars I’d have given the story only 3.5 stars rather than 4 because of the disjointed nature in the telling of the stories and the lack of resolution for any of the various story lines. However, I definitely felt it deserved more than 3, so I rounded up. I know there is a lot going on in this world, I just wish the author had been more focused on telling at least one of the stories to completion. While series often leave plenty unresolved for future books there is typically one arc that gets told to completion by the end of the book, but not this time around. But a I said, I enjoyed what was there and look forward to the coming sequel.

I’m not sure if this is the first time I’ve listened to a Kevin Pierce narration or not. His voice sounded familiar to me, but flipping through his others books I didn’t see anything I recognized. What I will say is that I enjoyed his work quite a bit. He has a very distinct voice and while I’m not sure what he looks like, it’s probably nothing like what his voice would lead me to believe. His voice is kind of gravely and I picture a grizzled grandfatherly old man.(probably not the case, lol, and so I apologize to Mr. Pierce in advance) But I must say it’s rather soothing. Unlike other narrators he doesn’t try to give every characters all their ‘own voice’, which I think is a good choice. As I said he has a unique voice and I think him trying to ‘do voices’ would be a mistake. I’d definitely listen to more books by him.
