Although I enjoyed this “Twilight” type vampire story, I don’t think I would have liked it as much as an ebook. It is the narration of Joel Froomkin that really brought an OK story to the next level. This is a m/f enemies to lovers vampire story. It is the first book of the series, which is probably why the angst was set on 11. Sabine is chosen to become the blood donor/wife of a vampire (who hates her, so Edward with some balls) due to a pact made by her ancestors. Neither party is very happy with the arrangement and makes it known.

That sets up the most annoying part of the story for me, the back and forth I love you/I hate you miscommunication scenarios. I can tolerate it if it contributes to the story. But some of it was just TSTL moments IMHO. But alas, I still stuck with it and smiled when they finally pulled their head out of their butts after a near death experience, classic. I also liked that we had some story left after that and experienced them getting to know each other as lovers. As I said, this is the first of a series, so not all questions are answered and it ends on a small cliffhanger, but it was still a satisfying HEA. I’m sure it will all go to hell in the next book, but we will see. The narrator does an excellent job. So if you are looking for some Twilight with sex, but 50 Shades is not your cup of tea, you’ll like this story.
