About 70% of this book is decent, the author likes cringey refferences and really getting into the numbers too much but those are forgiveable sins in anotherwise decent story.
in about the last 4 hours of the novel however an overused and boring trope leads to a DRAMATIC shift in tone that makes some of the exsisting issues worse. (Let me pause to make a cringey refference in the middle of this serious situation) And this is a bit of a spoiler but I really think you should know before reading; I really did not need the long and detailed torture scene, especially given it’s rushed setup and totally unecessary.
Mostly fine story absolutely ruined in the last 4 hours, won’t be continuing the series.
