This was only my 4th time finishing a whole set in this genre, I listen exclusively to this genre (apocalypse) and start at least 150 books a year.
This story was really steady and never gets lost in the details or in some dumb character stereotype. Very important details that made me stick with it and sometimes say YES!: Complex and realistic male, female, young and elderly characters. Interesting location! No crude language or vulgar descriptions of sexual violence. A family storyline! Ongoing travel and scavenge survival stories alongside an ongoing “hunker down and defend home” story. Interesting geopolitical elements but not so much of it that I feel like I’m listening to BBC world news. Kevin Pierce. Everyone knows his voice is just lovely.
I cant get over and compliment enough the fascinating uniqueness of the Florida element. I love when an author clearly knows their home and rides on that locality and it feels like a character in the story. In this way and many other ways this set reminded me of Angry Americans Survivalist series (that starts with Going Home) which is also set in Florida.
Authors this one reminded me of at different times: William Forschen, Angry American, Bruno Miller, Kate L Mary.
Summary: Consistent action, interesting story, unique Locations, family friendly language.
Thanks! I’m a fan!👍❤️
