The story is very interesting. I think the first book was more riveting but the second book’s story was good too. Unfortunately, the second book revealed way too much of the author’s political bent. While it’s not unusual to get impressions of an author’s opinions on issues being discussed, they were overwhelmingly distracting in this book. For example, you can get quality gun safety instruction without help from the NRA; and community-oriented people don’t necessarily expect the government to take care of them. There were also racial and sexist overtones. I felt like the book could have used a warning label stating it’s for conservatives only. I didn’t get the same feeling from the first book. I’m on the fence about buying the third in the series, but I’m pretty confident I’ll be bypassing other books from this author.
