This book made me despise alise. She’s an easily manipulable nitwit. Cruel and disloyal. I liked her in earlier books but now I don’t care what happens to her. Killian deserves better.

Only listened to 2 1/2 chapters, fast forwarded those to hoping the story would get going, too much detail about each character.
Admittedly, I’m only halfway through, but by this stage I would expect to be fully invested in the story. However, I’m finding it really slow. The narrator has a thick cozy Yorkshire accent which doesn’t interpret each of the characters particularly well. I’m finding it a struggle to persist with, but if I do get..
The narrator’s diction was difficult for me to understand. The story moved around and I lost interest.
This slow burn is filled with secrets, lies, bad decisions, politics, god, magic, trials & forbidden romance.
I struggled to follow the story . Didn’t finish reading it . It had good reviews hence buying it . Now trying to return the title …. not easy to work that out !
Even though I have read both the Trial and the Castle, I found this book to be very esoteric. It is very much a book for the scholar deeply immersed in Literary theory.
Boring snd slow moving. Wasn’t engaging at all. Won’t comment continue with series. Unfortunately not my cup of tea.
