This book should be required reading for everyone. It’s amazing how many people go along with orders. Only 10-20% refused to kill Jews when ordered. None really fought. These weren’t brainwashed Nazi youth, they were middle aged guys (became adults during Weimar) and were from the least Nazi city (Hamburg) Can’t happen here? Cops arrested..

As a “Catholic in name only” anymore (?), I found this book very illuminating. It didn’t pull any punches. It reaffirmed my sense that not only is Satan working his evil in the world, but he even stands in company with the highest ranking Catholics in the magisterium! So be it. Christ fought him too…
My 3 kids (7,5,3) loved listening to the story of civilization. It’s really well put together, takes the dryness out of history. The short fictional stories that are scattered throughout bring history alive and make it really enjoyable.
