I expected this to be more comedic, but to my delight, the author played it straight. The premise is outlandish, but the execution is solemn (in a good way) and deeply meaningful. Great writing and storytelling, and as always, a fantastic performance by Jeff Hays, Justin Thomas James, Annie Ellicott, and Gary Francis Furlong.

I’m not religious, but the unique premise of this story immediately caught my attention and landed it on my wishlist. While the book has a strong emphasis on Catholicism—more than I initially expected—it doesn’t detract from the story at all. Just a crappy story with an Mc that’s unbelievable. heart of gold that always saves the damsel yet also the meanest street enforcer ever blah blah blah. The author took every stereotypical trope and then proceeds to spend hours beating them to death.
