Fun, short. I could do without the slurs, but overall seems a fun romp. Abrupt-feeling ending, but I suppose that leaves an open ending.
Jeff Hays is absolutely amazing. I really thought it was a couple different narrators. I also totally get the hype of this book and I LOVE IT!!!
Every couple of chapters the book proudly slams the entire character sheet back in your face. Not a summary. Not a reminder. The full spreadsheet. Again. And again. The characters themselves are paper-thin. The antagonists are the whiniest “strong” NPCs imaginable—lots of posturing, zero menace—and they die like freshly cut grass the moment the plot..
Each series drives you deeper into the dungeon! Can’t wait to start 4! Hard book to explain to my friends when you’re 70! 😆
I was super excited to listen to another book of his as I had really liked the Carl series. I will admit I get bored during the Carl series, usually during their quests and often space out. The thing that always brings me back is the character development and the witty banter. This book didn’t..
The narrator does a great job bringing the story and the world to life. And as someone who has enjoyed Dungeon Crawler Carl, this book hits a lot of similar themes and has the same irreverent yet surprisingly heartfelt tone decorated with profanity and gore.
Give it a chance I know the first few chapters are not what we are used to from Matt but does it pick up chapters 29 was literally my favorite part what a savage last go Roger!!!
Love the world building. Definitely some unexpected turns. Great narrator. Felt betrayed by seeing a certain character again though.
worth it. such a fun read. some deep moments, mostly fun and gory. building more his past and the current world around the main story
