Another banger in the series. A change of scenery, and a little bit in pace, but a welcome one! I really loved the addition of the cookbook itself, what a great idea for worldbuilding… Riveting listen as always, and I loved how long and winding it was, similar to the traintracks 🙂 I recently learned..

I love everything about these books. They have been a bright spot in my current time in this falling apart society.
The story isn’t particularly innovative. It feels a lot like Ready Player One had a baby with He who fights with monsters, but it lacks the pizazz of either of those pieces of work. I think I would have given it a 3 star or even 4 if there hadn’t been some weird racial subtext…
im just obsessed!!! cant wait for book 8!!! it’s the perfect book to pull ypu out of a reading slump!!!

While the characters are really entertaining, and the performance of the narrator is absolutely top notch, the story itself seems to be a winding buildup to something else. This is seemingly a stepping stone towards additional adventures for Carl and Princess Donut. Lacks the punch of the first novel, with it’s introductions and clear start…

this was outstanding! the story was very interesting, the descriptions painted the pictures so perfectly, the voice actors did an outstanding job!
I am now on book 4 I like it, I wasn’t going to write a review but some of the bits made me laugh out loud
Extremely well-performed oration. The storyteller has a great sense of timing and does multiple voices very well. We laughed a lot! Cannot wait to hear Book 2!!!!
