Good start. The card dynamic was done well and felt different than other books that use cards as part of their game system. It felt a bit grim dark but the MC was still likeable. The plot was somewhat predictable but it was full of action. The narration was excellent!

Engrossing story telling

I have 2 complaints and they’re relatively minor. When the characters are talking to someone on the phone the other end is much lower than everything else making it difficult to hear. The second is the ending twist/reveal was so obvious I called it before the main character received his deck.

Decent stroy overall. Slower paced than some others of its genre. Would give it a solid 4 stats if the defacto leader of earth didn’t constantly apologize for no reason. It’s like going to the bar and having the bar tender constantly say, “Sorry, I’m new”. Gets old after the first time.
