I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook the 1st time. The new Dungeon Crawler Carl book 5 is releasing on 5/26/22. I have the book pre-ordered and am listening through all the previous books again in preparation. I am enjoying this listen through as much as I did the 1st time.

There’s nothing particularly bad about this story*, and it generally moves along at a decent clip, but at the same time it feels like it just doesn’t offer anything new. All the action setpieces and the plotlines with the various aliens just feel like things I’ve already seen in other books, movies, or TV shows…

Overall, this book is entertaining with several humorous elements. At times it does get a bit long-winded about some minutiae, and could probably have been an hour shorter, but I love the elements of lore included. This has the whole game aspect to it, but toned down enough where it doesn’t impede on the story. This might as well be a apocalypse series as mankind is just absolutly destroyed in terms of numbers. I love the whole concept of well you could play our game and all of this goes away..
