Jeff Hays is an amazing and I would listen to any book written by him.
Narration
Review from This Inevitable Ruin →
This outrageous story is exactly what the world needs. It’s horrifying but hilarious. Narrator is the best in the business, bringing each character perfectly to life. You’ll be on the edge of your seat, cheering on Carl and Donut as they take on the next adventure lurking behind the next corner. Read it.
You know how sometimes a narrator takes a book from great to AMAZING? This is one of those books. This is a dark humor story, with engaging characters and creative world building. I found this book to be highly entertaining.
relatively simple, humorous, fast moving, but enough depth to keep it interesting. Good stuff. well worth a listen, the audio is especially good.
To begin with, Jeff Hays is amazing, I’ve listened to audiobooks here and there throughout my life, for the past 30 or so years that I can recall, my parents popping a cassette audio book into the tape player and listening to things like Daniel Pinkwater, up to my adult life listening to Dark Tower..
Only slight issues is that Carl sounds like Patrick Warburton in the first book. Besides that I have absolutely no complaints.
This book is poorly written and Hayes does an amazing job at making it somewhat tolerable. I think he is the only reason this series is so popular. I look forward to listening to more of Hayes’s work in the future but I will probably not continue Dungeon Crawler Carl.
