Sybil’s correspondence over the years are touching, revealing, harsh, loving. All of who she is and who she was she puts down in ink. Made me long for when I wrote letters.

Took some chapters to engage but once that happened the letters increasingly compelling and one’s life story memorizing.

This is truly one of the all-time best audible books I have ever listened to.

This is a difficult review to write because the writing was brilliant, but it was extremely difficult to listen to. I had to stop several times due to the heaviness. It’s a book I will not forget, but had I known that it was filled with so much sadness, I would not have chosen it.

What a lovely story told by many voices. I was reminded of my grandmother who passed away a couple years ago. She always wrote cards and letters, and we were corresponding up until the day before she passed. This book brought me so much joy and warm memories.

A complete novel with such complex characters. You have to listen to the book. The actors read the book flawlessly

Loved the story, loved the eloquence, loved the narration. It was simply a beautifully told story at just the right pace and with just the most amazing characters. It’s a book which I will most likely listen to again.

This is a wondrous story about characters that are terribly interesting and the building of relationships through pen and ink. Absolutely enduring story.

The format and structure of this book made it difficult to stay engaged. Although the premise initially seemed promising, the presentation lacked energy and creativity. I struggled to remain interested, and ultimately I could not finish it because it never captured my attention or inspired me to continue reading further.

This novel was amazing. Beautifully organized, so truthful and evocative of looking back at a life lived while grasping living and life as a whole. Touching.
