Narration was meh and honestly I had to doublecheck to see if it was ai. Beyond that it was a good story and I wished we would’ve gotten the return trip.
Great story that was unfortunately spoiled by translation and narrator with his inability to pronounce key words.
this narrator’s voice is annoying to the point of distraction. His Cadence is just wrong and tone inflection is wrong as well. I’m a pretty tolerant guy but I just can’t handle this guy I won’t be buying any more books where he’s the narrator. the story itself is okay I guess kind of mundane…
I figured there were two writers, the father who came up with a good story and a 15 year old son who wrote the dialogue. Does anyone really talk like this. Too bad the narrators sounds like reads to us like we are 3rd graders.
I did not like the story. Very unrealistic in so many ways. Illogical. Not necessarily the EMP but the way they handled it. Dialogue lame. I partially blame audiobooks for providing a five minute preview when 2 1/2 of those minutes are introduction.
Why could the narrator not take 10 minutes to prepare with correct pronunciation of even simple Japanese honorifics. An amazing story that was almost unlistenable due to what feels like lack of care on the narrators part. Two-sama instead of Tousama, it’s truly crazy to me that this was allowed throughout the book.
Interesting characters, not all characters is flesh out as they might have been. Pretty basic post apocalyptic story, with a couple of nice twists . All in all, an enjoyable listen.

Don’t waste your time, 1 book of trilogy. Nothing is explained. If story completed it would be good.
NARRATOR: The intonation choices made by the narrator were so distractingly poor, i could not have made it through the first book – let alone the full series – without listening at 1.2x speed. I stopped listening several times at first book but finally remembered that I could speed up the playback. At least then..
I gave it a solid 20 hours hoping it would get better or there would be some sort of development in the characters. I was not a big fan of the narrator nor the storyline. There is no concept of space and time for any of the characters. Everyone spends too much time talking and..
