Poyer writes great naval novels – this is another one of these. Dan Lenson is a great character, and his exploits typically fun to follow. Also in this novel. But here the plot is so full of sequential complications, that occur more of less independently from one another, that it is clear that the book..

Huge highs and terrible lows.

Great story, truly awful narration

By far Bentley Little’s best book; I’ve read it at least five times prior to listening to the audiobook. I highly recommend the book, but based on this narrator I can’t recommend the audiobook. The narrator was monotonous and robotic, with numerous mispronunciations and emphases placed on incorrect syllables. His rendition of the girls voices..
I made it to Ch 14 before quitting, might continue later, but I cant stand the characters in the book. The protagonist is a shallow loser with murderous tendencies, gives huge Incel vibes. All the other characters are nonexistent or shallow. Where are the likeable side characters? Where are the relatable coming-of-age experiences? Where are..
Disappointing third act

The justification that the government would whisk them ALL away to lab prisons is too great a suspension for my belief, and it hurts the whole third act. that’s the hard part about writing..
Fun Horror Story; Didn’t Age Well..
Review from The Mailman →
Not a book that aged well. The horror and references would not be appreciated by modern generations. The monster is referred to as almost a transexual who preys on woman and little boys- Very culturally deaf now. The horror structure in general is pretty classic and I’m sure this author helped shaped the modern horror..
Excellent book.
